Blast Cleaning

Blast Cleaning is carried out as a means of removing rust,

mill scale, paint and all other contaminates from the metal

to provide a perfectly clean surface prior to coating.

It also provides a surface profile on the metal which provides

a good mechanical key to improve the adhesion of the

subsequent coating.

This is carried out manually in a compressed air blast room

under controlled conditions.

Various abrasives can be used depending on the surface

finish required.

In some instances where Blast Cleaning is thought to be unsuitable for the type of component being coated, the component can be manually degreased using suitable degreasing solutions.
